Soon the Health & Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) on behalf of NHS England will commence extracting Personal & Confidential Data (PCD) about Patients from GP Practice Clinical Systems.
We consider it very important that Patients are aware of this, are fully informed and can make an informed decision as to whether to take action or not.
Below we have provided information both from NHS England but also clarification from the EMIS (our clinical system provider) National User Group in the form of a more direct leaflet.
If as a result of this information you decide that you wish to "opt out" of allowing this information to be extracted we have, for your convenience provided an on line form allowing you to instruct us to "block" extraction or sharing of the data.
The Practice has no choice about compliance with this initiative which has been written into law - consequently we can only;
- Provide information including Questions and Answers as below & on paper in the waiting room & either
- Allow extraction of data or
- Act upon your instructions to block data
Please do not take up your time with the Doctor discussing the rights or wrongs - this would be a matter for your MP.
